The status of Ruzek has been one of the larger question marks floating around out there with “ Chicago PD ” season 4, mostly because he’s been gone for a number of episodes now with Kenny Rixton taking his place.
At the beginning of the series, Adam Ruzek was a novice police officer, eager to get out on the job and make a difference in Chicago. However, through the years, his character has been through the wringer and really changed and matured. Patrick John Flueger weighed in on how his character changed at the One Chicago press day.
That said, the character who struggled the most was Adam Ruzek (Patrick Flueger), who took the kidnapping of Makayla (Ramona Edith Williams) as cause to ignore standard police procedure. There were several instances throughout the episode where Ruzek crossed the line, and other cops had to talk him down.
The episode ended with Ruzek handing his badge and gun to Voight, making sure Voight didn’t intend for Ruzek to let his opponent win, and then walking toward the fight. This was not the behavior of a man who fully recovered from his scare at the beginning of the season and was now living a healthy life without crossing professional lines.
