Does Jared Kalu Come Back? – Celebrity

The Good Doctor is currently airing its third season weekly on ABC but some fans are still lamenting the loss of one of the major original characters – Dr Jared Kalu (played by Chuku Modu). He left The Good Doctor back in season two of the show, much to the dismay of fans – but what has the actor revealed about his exit?

Dr. Jared Kalu is a former surgical resident at St. Bonaventure Hospital. According to his accent and history, Kalu is clearly from the United Kingdom. Despite his strong physical stature, Jared is emotionally soft and caring. In fact, he occasionally has difficulty controlling his caring, protective emotions.

Introduced in Season 1 alongside Claire Browne as a surgical resident at San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital, Kalu was instrumental in helping Shaun Murphy acclimate to his new career.

The actor has not revealed his exact reason for leaving the show but has since gone on to play a major role in The 100. He plays Dr. Gabriel Santiago in the series and was upped to a series regular ahead of the beginning of season seven. Modu also gave an emotional goodbye to his role as Jared, posting on Instagram after his exit back in 2018.

How did Jared grow up?

Jared grew up in a rich, yet negligent family. He was raised by nannies and was frequently sent to boarding school. He spent Christmases with his parents during his academical life. At the age of 18 he moved out to pursue a career in medicine, going against his father‘s wishes. After an unknown amount of time he returned to his family’s house to inform his parents of his achievement, only to discover that they had moved out months ago without informing him. This left Jared with a vulnerable mental state and difficulties with romantic relationships, as he has felt unrequited love since childhood.

“Shaun believed there was something wrong with the patient. Shaun communicated with him, connected with him, got him to come in. And whether he’s right or not, I couldn’t be prouder to back him because he sticks to his gut and he fights for what he thinks is right!”

Who is Jared Kalu?

Who Was Jared Kalu on The Good Doctor. Introduced in Season 1 alongside Claire Browne as a surgical resident at San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital, Kalu was instrumental in helping Shaun Murphy acclimate to his new career.

While Kalu appeared briefly in the show’s second season, he would accept a job in Denver and leave San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital in his rear-view. Without Kalu around, The Good Doctor would bring in a new group of residents, including Will Yun Lee’s Alex Park and Fiona Gubelmann’s Morgan …

He wasn’t down for the count, though, as he sued the hospital for racial discrimination — a case he ended up winning. Kalu would get his position at the hospital back, but he lost the respect of Dr. Melendez and the Chief of Surgery, Dr. Andrews.

Another member of The Good Doctor family that left the series was Chuku Modu, who portrayed surgical resident Jared Kalu in Season 1. Let’s look at who Kalu was and what led to Modu’s exit from the ABC series.

After leaving The Good Doctor, Modu became a series regular in the final two seasons of The CW’s The 100. He’d also find his way to the big screen, where he’d portray Soh-Larr, a Kree warrior taken by Skrulls in an attempt to lure Starforce to a remote planet and capture Carol Danvers, in Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel.

However, things took a turn when Kalu assaulted another doctor at the hospital after he sexually harassed Claire, who Kalu was in an on-again, off-again relationship with at the time. After the higher-ups found out, Kalu was promptly fired from his position as a surgical resident.

Why did Chuku leave the Good Doctor?

There has not been any official statement about why Chuku Modu is leaving The Good Doctor — however, the two most likely explanations are that it was planned all along by the writers to keep things interesting, or that Modu wanted to pursue other ventures.

Modu has already filmed a role in Captain Marvel, which is currently in post-production with an expected release date in 2019.

But it sounds like there’s no bad blood between Chuku Modu and The Good Doctor. On Instagram, the actor revealed that he has nothing but love for the series and the work he did with the production team.
