Is Casey dead on Chicago Fire? No, Casey is not dead. He’s alive and well as the new legal guardian of the Darden boys.
Despite the star’s exit from “Chicago Fire,” fans of the character can breathe a sigh of relief. No, Casey isn’t getting killed off. Instead, he’s decided to make the move from Chicago to Oregon to look after the sons of Andrew Darden (via Fansided), his best friend who died in the first episode (via TV Insider).
Did Casey die? After a long summer hiatus, Chicago Fire finally resolved its major season five finale cliffhanger with a resounding no. The season six premiere of the drama picked up right where it left off: in the thick of the warehouse fire that left the status of nearly half of the main cast in question.
Of course, Matt Casey’s exit from Chicago Fire was bittersweet. However, the way the series handled Casey’s farewell instilled too much hope to believe it really was the end for the beloved fire chief.
Matthew Casey (born March 24, 1979) is a fire captain with the Portland Fire Department. He was formerly a captain with the Chicago Fire Department and the officer in charge of Truck 81 at Firehouse 51 but transferred when he moved to Oregon. He is the only son and second child of Nancy and Gregory Casey.
However, the premiere showed that Casey — and the rest of the crew from Firehouse 51 — made it out alive, with Casey even receiving a medal for his bravery at what initially appeared to look like a memorial for lieutenant.
