From their days in Compton all the way to today, Dr. Dre and Ice Cube have shared a longstanding friendship. The two started their careers rapping alongside one another in the hip-hop group N.W.A., along with the group’s other members Arabian Prince, DJ Yella, Eazy-E, MC Ren, and Snoop Dogg.
Ice Cube and Dr. Dre have a long and storied history as friends and collaborators. Yet despite having spent time together as part of the legendary group NWA, the pair have only linked up on a handful of tracks in the years that followed.

Following the success of N.W.A’s debut album Straight Outta Compton, Ice Cube left the group in 1989 after he felt he wasn’t fairly compensated for the work he did on the album, per AllMusic.

Why did Dre record Eazy?
Dre only went through all this work to record Eazy because he found his voice to be really unique and had the flavor and voice of a legitimate gangster (which Eazy was). As N.W.A. started to blow up the combination of Ice Cube, Eazy E, and MC Ren proved to be very effective and musically appealing.
Ice Cube noticed this initially and actually never signed the contract and of course was the first to go.
Ice Cube saw Eazy walking away in New York and he liked that image more than seeing him in a casket because by then him and Eazy had reconciled and they were good friends again however I don’t know about Dre and Ren they probably couldn’t handle watching a friend they knew for years. 31.3K views.
Eventually Dre got Suge Knight’s people to look over his contract and verify that it was an almost criminal deal. Since Dre had already signed the contract though he was legally stuck in it for the contractual time period he agreed to unless Eazy/Jerry would release him.
